Daughters of the American Revolution give grant to Orofino school

Orofino Elementary School and teacher Nicole Falk received a $500 grant for her classroom from the Daughters of the American Revolution Junior Membership Committee.

The Helen Pouch Memorial Fund Classroom 2023 grant was awarded to Falk to request a 3D printer, software and filaments for students to learn to design and print new projects.

“I am excited to bring this opportunity into my classroom for my students to experience and interact with real world-world equipment that will be a product of their future,” said Falk in a news release distributed by the Daughters of the American Revolution.

The grant is also sponsored by the Alice Whitman Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. The grant supports classrooms and teachers from kindergarten through 12th grade and presents four $500 grants annually. The Helen Pouch Memorial Fund was named in honor of Helen Pouch, who was the first national chairwoman of the Junior Membership Committee in 1937.

Those interested in the grant can apply by contacting dar.awc.regent@gmail.com and the grant cycle is open until March 15.
