MOSCOW - The preliminary hearing for a 28-year-old Moscow man on a felony drug possession charge was postponed Friday after his attorney argued she needed additional time to prepare for the case.
Nathaniel H. Nisbet, who is also facing second-degree murder charges in Latah County, was charged with possession of a controlled substance in December after authorities allegedly found methamphetamine in a backpack that belonged to him while searching a trailer on North Polk Extension in Moscow, according to court records.
Magistrate John C. Judge rescheduled the preliminary hearing for 3 p.m. Jan. 16 at the request of Nisbet's attorney, Deborah McCormick.
The search followed a Nov. 10 shooting at the Bel Air Mobile Home Park in Moscow that resulted in the death of 42-year-old Charles (Pat) McMichael.
Nisbet is accused of shooting McMichael, but has pleaded innocent to the second-degree murder charge related to McMichael's death. A jury trial on the murder case is set for March 18 in Latah County 2nd District Court before District Judge John R. Stegner.
Nisbet is in the custody of the Latah County Jail on a $300,000 bond.
