Former head of county GOP tallies 555 votes to unseat Miller with 485

OROFINO — Ken Harvey, former head of the Clearwater County Republican central committee, toppled incumbent Rick Miller for the District 3 Clearwater County commission race Tuesday.

With all 19 precincts casting ballots, Harvey received 555 votes, or 53.3% to Miller’s 485, or 46.6% of the votes.

In the District 1 commission race, Mitch Reggear gathered 642, or 62.2% of the votes cast while Scott Hill received 389, or 37.7% of the votes.

Reggear is a forester for Idaho Forest Group and a lifelong Clearwater County resident. Hill is a self-employed carpenter and the current interim chairman of the county Republican committee.

Roads were a major issue among all the commission candidates, as well as managing growth in the county and keeping county employees’ wages competitive.
