The City of Moscow announced that former Fire Chief Phil Gatlin died Friday,

Current Chief Brian Nickerson said in a news release that Gatlin served as chief from 1987-97.

“During those ten years he demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to the safety and well-being of our community,” Nickerson said. “His leadership and dedication played a vital role in ensuring the protection of our city, friends, and neighbors.”

Nickerson expressed his condolences to Gatlin’s family.

“Chief Phil Gatlin’s legacy will live on through those who had the honor of knowing him and in the unwavering dedication of our city’s emergency services to the cause he passionately championed,” Nickerson said.
