ROSALIA - A member of the Rosalia Fire Department was arrested Thursday afternoon for allegedly pawning equipment that was stolen from the fire department.
Kelly Brown, 35, of Rosalia, was arrested after Whitman County deputies served a search warrant at his home on the 400 block of Josephine Avenue and found evidence Brown pawned a portable radio that belonged to the fire department at a Spokane pawnshop.
Whitman County Sheriff Brett Myers said deputies have a receipt that shows Brown pawned the radio.
According to the Whitman County Sheriff's Office, the investigation found several other items have recently gone missing from the fire department in recent months, and Brown is assisting deputies in recovering some stolen property.
The warrant to search Brown's residence comes after a vehicle suspected to be involved in a burglary last month on Gashous Road was later identified as Brown's.
He was arrested on charges of second-degree theft and second-degree burglary. He was booked into the Whitman County Jail and was released on his own recognizance.
