Susan Fagan and Pat Hailey extended their leads Wednesday in Washington's 9th Legislative District primary race.
Five candidates are in the race, with the top two vote-getters moving on to the Nov. 3 general election. The winner will serve out the year remaining on former Rep. Steve Hailey's term of office.
As of Wednesday, Fagan leads with 5,728 votes, or 28.7 percent; Hailey is second with 5,126 votes, or 25.7 percent; Glen Stockwell, a Democrat, is third with 5,003 votes, or 25 percent; Art Swannack has 2,461 votes, or 12.3 percent; and Darin Watkins has 1,639 votes, or 8.2 percent.
Mail-in ballots will continue to be counted as they come in. The final election results will be certified on Sept. 2.
