Washington State Patrol investigators said Baker had driven east in the westbound lanes of Interstate 182 for more than a mile before his Ford truck collided with a Toyota Rav4 and a Honda Civic.

The Toyota driver, Martin Sanchez, was taken to a hospital, where he later died. His girlfriend and two daughters and the driver of the Honda escaped injury.

Baker had a blood-alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit the night of the crash.

Baker apologized to Sanchez's family in court.
