A 60-year-old Culdesac man who stopped police east of Lewiston to make a traffic complaint was arrested Tuesday on DUI and drug charges.

John C. Vangelder, 60, was taken into custody at 2 p.m. by Idaho State Police troopers after he pulled his 1990 Mercury Villager behind a squad car in the U.S. Highway 95 median four miles south of Lewiston to make a complaint.

According to troopers, Vangelder was reportedly incoherent and refused to cooperate in a field sobriety test. He was later booked into the Nez Perce County Jail and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of prescription drugs without a prescription and driving without a valid license.
