ASOTIN — A 53-year-old Clarkston woman has pleaded not guilty to a felony charge for allegedly having sex with a 15-year-old boy.

Laura B. Miller appeared Monday in Asotin County Superior Court to face charges of third-degree rape of a child and furnishing alcohol to a minor. She is represented by Pullman attorney Roger Sandberg and will make her next court appearance May 20.

According to court documents, Miller reportedly told police she was asleep in her room, and when she woke up, the boy was taking her clothes off, and they had sex. During an interview with law enforcement, she told police she felt “violated,” and she shouldn’t have gone along with it, but he shouldn’t have come in her room and started undressing her in her sleep.

However, the alleged victim said he and Miller were hugging, massaging and kissing each other on a couch before they moved to her bedroom, where the incident reportedly took place on Jan. 18 in the Clarkston Heights. Miller has been accused of supplying alcohol and smoking marijuana with the minor on the same evening.

According to court records, the boy was reportedly “devastated and humiliated” over the alleged incident. “I never forced anything, once,” the juvenile told police.

Third-degree rape of a child is a Class C felony, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison. The age of consent in the state of Washington is 16.
