Clarkston’s city admin put on administrative leave; but no details provided about situation

Clarkston City Administrator Steve Austin has been placed on paid administrative leave, according to city officials.

Attorney Suni Hanson said Austin will remain on leave pending an investigation by an outside agency. No details about what led to Austin’s leave will be released until the investigation is complete, Hanson said Tuesday.

Late last year, the Clarkston City Council approved the new $140,000 administrative position and hired Austin. He previously served as city clerk and treasurer for six years, and now oversees all city business and department heads as administrator.
