TROY — Latah County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 31-year-old Clarkston man Wednesday morning near Troy after he fled police on his dirt bike.
According to a Latah County news release, a deputy attempted to stop an unregistered dirt bike allegedly driven by Jonathan Owens on Idaho Highway 8 in Troy.
The bike allegedly sped away from the deputy at speeds of 90 mph and passed at least one vehicle in a no-passing zone. The bike later left the highway and drove through a field.
The deputies discontinued the pursuit near the intersection of Schumacker Road and Idaho Highway 8 to avoid danger to the public.
The deputy later located the dirt bike on Driscoll Ridge Road and took Owens into custody on charges of eluding and possession of stolen property.
