Four people escaped without injuries when a fifth-wheel trailer in Clarkston exploded about 7 p.m. Thursday night.
"We just moved the trailer in a couple of days ago," said Denise Duncan, 43. "It was our only home. We were having the furnace fixed. We saw a huge explosion shoot out from under the refrigerator and it went through the whole trailer."
Duncan said that at the time, she was inside with her 5-year-old daughter, 14-year-old son and a neighbor. Everyone got out safely, but she was unable to retrieve her cell phone or truck keys. The trailer was gutted and destroyed.
Crews from Asotin County Fire District No. 1 extinguished the flames shortly after arriving at the scene at 1325 Libby St., Chief Noel Hardin said.
Neighbors reported a hot water tank exploded, Hardin said. A neighbor kept a hose on a propane tank and shut off the valve.
The family is staying with friends in the Heights, Duncan said.
