MOSCOW — The University of Idaho Borah Symposium is scheduled for next Monday through Wednesday in Moscow and will discuss the rise of autocratic governments and the effort to strengthen democracy.
The keynote speaker is Fiona Hill, a distinguished senior fellow at the Brookings Institution and a former deputy assistant on Russian affairs to former President Donald Trump.
There will be a fireside chat with Hill moderated by UI professor Kenton Bird at 7 p.m. Monday at the International Ballroom of the Bruce M. Pitman Center, 709 Deakin Ave., Moscow. The Renfrew Colloquium is at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Vandal Ballroom of the Bruce M. Pitman Center. The colloquium will discuss “Updating Senator Borah: A Nuclear Kellogg-Briand Pact.”
There will be a documentary screening of “Putin’s Attack on Ukraine: Documenting War Crimes” at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre, 508 S. Main St., Moscow.
The closing address is at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the International Ballroom of the Bruce M. Pitman Center and will be given by Dirk Kempthorne, former U.S. interior secretary and former governor of Idaho.
