Asotin County employee dies in ATV accident in Oregon

An Asotin County resident was killed Sunday in an all-terrain vehicle rollover in Wallowa County, Oregon.

Vicki Benson, 60, died in the Cherry Creek area, near the Oregon, Washington and Idaho state lines, officials said. She was employed at the Asotin County Auditor’s Office.

According to the Wallowa County Sheriff’s Office, Benson and her 73-year-old husband were riding ATVs with two other couples when the crash occurred. Wallowa County deputies, the Oregon State Police and air ambulance responded to the scene.

Earlier this week, the Asotin County commissioners held a moment of silence to honor Benson, who had been employed at the auditor’s office since May of 2022.
