Weekends chock-full of happenings will be the norm in the Inland Northwest for weeks to come, and this particular weekend features one of the major events of the spring.

The 38th annual Art Under the Elms, the centerpiece of the Dogwood Festival, is planned for today through Sunday at the Lewis-Clark State College campus. There is no cost to enter the outdoor artisan fair and food court, and there will also be live music and other performances.

The hours of Art Under the Elms are noon to 7 p.m. today, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. A full schedule of events is available at lcsc.edu/cah/art-under-the-elms.

Other events around the region this weekend include:

* A four-day dog show gets started this morning at the Nez Perce County Fairgrounds, 1229 Burrell Ave., Lewiston. The hours of the show are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. There is no cost to attend, but there is a $6 parking fee, or $20 for all four days.

The Palouse Hills Dog Fanciers are organizing the first two days of the show while the Lewis Clark Kennel Club will run the show Sunday and Monday.

* Earth Day will be observed from 4-7 p.m. today at East City Park in Moscow. The free event, organized by Inland North Waste, is family-friendly and will include live music, free food and beverages, games, giveaways and more.

* The Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival continues at the University of Idaho in Moscow. Performing at 7 tonight at the ICCU Arena will be Veronica Swift, the UI Chamber Jazz Choir, the UI Jazz Band I and Hamp’s Jazz Ambassadors.

Hampton’s 116th birthday will be marked at 7 p.m. Saturday at the ICCU Arena, and will feature performances by Kenny Garrett and Sounds From The Ancestors, the Lionel Hampton Big Band and Hamp’s Jazz Ambassadors.

* The Spring Craft Fair is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Tendercare Children’s Center, 1465 Poplar St., Clarkston. Local crafters and vendors will be selling their products.

* The Palouse Spring Craft Fair is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Palouse Community Center, 230 E. Main St., Palouse. It’s free to attend. Homemade, handmade and vintage items will be sold. All ages are welcome to the family-friendly event. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

* The Stride for Inclusion, a sensory-friendly 5K race that aims to promote inclusivity and empower individuals of all abilities and disabilities, is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Kiwanis Park, 806 Snake River Ave., Lewiston. Tickets for the Green Apple Project race are $30 and are available at bit.ly/3xIjHWC.

* The two-day Lewiston Center Spring Market is planned for 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Lewiston Center Mall, 1810 19th Ave., Lewiston. It’s free to attend. Local vendors will be selling goods inside the mall.

* Pizza for the Planet is planned for noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Ruby Street Park, 605 NE Colorado St., Pullman. People are asked to bring their used pizza boxes, which will be collected and converted to biochar, a safe and sustainable soil amendment.

* Springfest, featuring rap artists Mike Dimes and Tee Grizzley, is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday at Beasley Coliseum, 925 NE North Fairway Road, Pullman. Tickets are $35 for students or $60 for the public.

* Earth Day with Adam Savage is planned for 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Beasley Coliseum, 925 NE North Fairway Road, Pullman. There will be games, prizes, food and more, and Savage, co-host of “MythBusters,” will discuss climate change and the importance of science in sustainability. There is no cost to attend. The event is being organized by the Washington State University Environmental Sustainability Alliance, Associated Students of WSU and WSU Student Entertainment Board.

* The Grangeville Bluegrass Stage is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Blue Fox Theatre, 116 W. Main St., Grangeville. Bands scheduled to perform include Grangeville Taco Band, Higher Ground and Heartbreak Pass. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $10, or free for those 15 and younger accompanied by an adult.
