Lewiston police arrested a man who allegedly had a loaded shotgun and a knife outside a Neighborhood Market but was stopped by a man with a concealed weapon.
Jeromy S. Adams, 28, of Lewiston, is charged with felony aggravated assault stemming from a Friday incident at 1536 Main St. Adams had bond set at $10,000 Monday and has a preliminary hearing set for July 2.
Court records indicate Adams was across from the Neighborhood Market and throwing rocks at the business at about 11 p.m. Friday. An employee told him to leave and Adams reportedly made some "derogatory comments" before leaving.
Adams returned about 30 minutes later and was allegedly carrying a loaded, 20-gauge sawed-off shotgun in one hand and a knife in the other. He reportedly was carrying the weapons at his side. A man outside the market with a valid concealed weapon permit took out a gun and pointed it at Adams, ordering him to drop his weapons.
Adams complied and walked away, again making derogatory remarks, according to court records. Police responded and retrieved the shotgun and knife Adams dropped and later located and arrested him without incident.
Aggravated assault is punishable by up to five years in prison.
