SEATTLE The brother and stepbrother of a Central Washington University student who was slain over Thanksgiving weekend also died tragically, the victims' father said.
In 1975, Amanda Stavik's 17-year-old brother, Brent, was shot to death at Anchorage, Alaska, said Glenn Stavik, who lives at Anchorage.
Joan Brooks, Alaska state registrar of vital statistics, said Brent Stavik died of multiple gunshot wounds to the head and chest by an unknown assailant or assailants.
''As far as the circumstances, they've never found any clues or any reason for the murder. He was just found shot,'' Stavik said. Stavik and Amanda's mother, Mary, were divorced in 1974.
A 20-year-old stepson, Spencer, the son of Glenn Stavik's second wife, drowned in a boating accident on the Kenai River in 1988, Stavik said.
Amanda Stavik, 18, disappeared Friday while jogging near her home outside Acme, where she was visiting for Thanksgiving. Her body was found Monday in the Nooksack River and police are investigating the case as a homicide.
