MOSCOW — The Latah Recovery Center announced Tuesday that its peer-run sober living recovery house, called the Oxford House, will reopen June 15, a year after it burned down in a fire.
The center also announced an Oxford House for women and women with children will be opening in the “near future.”
The nonprofit is asking for donations of home furnishings to supply the homes. That includes furniture, dishes, silverware, linens and “basically anything simple for a home,” according to a news release.
Larger needs include refrigerators, a stackable washer and dryer, and a lawnmower.
The public can contact Mike Reininger at (208) 501-3138 or mike.reininger@oxfordhouse.org for more information.
The Moscow Oxford House is being rebuilt in its same location on the 800 block of Bitterroot Street in Moscow. The Moscow home, which housed six men in recovery from drug and alcohol addictions, was destroyed by a fire in March 2023.
None of the residents were injured.
Darrell Keim, director, said the rebuilt house will have six bedrooms. He said Reininger can be contacted by those interested in applying to live at the house.
Keim said the nonprofit has put in a bid on a house in Moscow for the women’s Oxford House. The center is waiting for a loan to be approved. Keim said an anonymous donor has promised to match all donations toward the house.
