85-year-old man walks away from small plane crash

GRANGEVILLE — An 85-year-old Riggins man walked away without injuries from an airplane crash at the Idaho County Airport Wednesday.

James Farnsworth crashed his single-engine aircraft at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday on take-off, said Idaho County Deputy Roberto Hernandez. Farnsworth was the sole occupant of the craft and was not injured, although the Syringa Hospital emergency medical service and Grangeville Fire Department responded to the scene,

The cause of the crash is unknown. Hernandez said the investigation will be taken over by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
