LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Potlatch Forests, Inc., announced plans Friday to build a 35-million-dollar paper mill in the area of McGehee, Arkansas City and Rohwer.

The Lewiston, Idaho, firm said the date that construction is begun will be determined by market conditions. No data for putting the plant into operation was announced.

Official word of the project was given by the firm to Gov. Orval E. Faubus in a telegram.

R. E. Bundy, Potlatch president, told Faubus the firm had acquired options on three sites of 500 acres each. A definite site is to be picked after test drillings determine the load bearing of the land and the availability of underground water.

Some 400 persons will be employed when the plant begins operation, Bundy said. The facility will produce bleach board and pulp.

Potlatch recently acquired the Bradley and Southern lumber mills at Warren, Ark.
