Lewiston experiences widespread power outage Thursday afternoon — but for only about 20 minutes

The power blinked out for a large slice of Lewiston's population on Thursday afternoon, but was quickly restored.

The outage affected 7,514 customers of Avista Utilities and occurred at 12:42 p.m. But it was fully restored by 1:05 p.m., according to a spokesperson from the utilities company.

The outage was caused by "equipment failure in (a) substation," according to the spokesperson. Workers isolated the problem and restored power.
