Berlin, Oct 16. — Dr. Albert Einstein. German scientist, presented observations today which may indicate the earth is several billion years older than scientists generally heretofore have calculated.
Lecturing on “The Conception of Space,” Dr. Einstein described the universe in a state of expansion which possibly had been progressing for some 10,000,000,000 years. Asserting that the calculations at present could not be proved, Dr. Einstein said, however, that the birthday of the earth might be linked up with the beginning of this expansion period.
(The latest calculations of reliable scientific authorities placed the age the earth at about 3,000,000,000 years. Dr. Einstein’s computation thus might add 7,000,000,000 years to this.)
