Tri-State Hospital Foundation selects Newbry to head the group in 2008

Gaylord Newbry will serve as president of the Tri-State Hospital Foundation in 2008.

Newbry is eastern regional representative for Columbia/Snake river sales at Foss Maritime Barge Co.

Other foundation officers are vice president Sharon Hume, customer service manager of Sterling Savings Bank in Clarkston; and secretary/treasurer Ron Aldrich, area manager of Banner Bank in Lewiston and Clarkston.

Executive committee members are JoRae Teasley, optical technician at Costco Optical in Clarkston; and Bill Snyder, manager at Bruneel Tire Factory in Clarkston.

The board also announced winners of its annual awards. Mary Lee Frazier, co-owner of Clarkston Height's Meat Market, won the Lee Martin award that goes to someone who enthusiastically supports the goals of the foundation by going beyond normal expectations. Frazier served three consecutive terms as president of the foundation ending in 2007.

Five others were recognized for their contributions to fundraising events. They were Tom Beloit, Realtor with Coldwell Banker Tomlinson and sales manager of Travelland RV; Carrie Beloit, office manager for Dr. Robert Lotstein; Debbie Bodman, a Realtor with Assist to Sell; Cindy Wiggins, business manager of Dentistry for Children; and Debbie Whiteley, office assistant at McSorley Elementary School in Lewiston.

Reggear named vice president of Idaho Nursery and Landscape Association

A north central Idaho man will serve as the first vice president of the Idaho Nursery and Landscape Association in 2008.

Bob Reggear, co-owner of Reggear Tree Farm in Orofino and Craigmont, will hold the office in the organization that promotes horticulture in Idaho.

Another north central Idaho resident is serving the association in a different capacity. Galahad Blyth, the owner of NativesWest Nursery and Landscaping in Kooskia, is a director for the north chapter of the organization.

Doctors elect Petersen to lead staff

Dr. David Petersen, a family practice physician at Valley Medical Center in Lewiston, has been elected chief of the medical and dental staff of St. Joseph Regional Medical Center for 2008.

Other medical staff executive committee officers are president elect, Dr. Jay Hunter with Lewiston Emergency Physicians; and secretary-treasurer, Dr. Alan Peterson, with Pathologists Regional Laboratory in Lewiston.

The officers are elected every other year by doctors who have privileges to practice at St. Joe's. They assist with planning and quality analysis.

Small business center sets classes

Starting a new venture doing business with the government and hiring, firing and rewarding employees are topics of workshops that will be offered through the Region II Idaho Small Business Development Center at Lewis-Clark State College.

How to Start a Business Boot Camp will be from 6 to 9 p.m. March 3 in Room 12 of the LCSC Administration Building. The same workshop will be offered again from 6 to 9 p.m. March 10 at The Gallery at 107 W. North in Grangeville. The fee for either class is $10.

Hiring, Firing and Employee Incentives is set for 6 to 9 p.m. March 24 in Room 12 of the LCSC Administration Building. The cost is $25.

Doing Business with the Government is scheduled for 8 a.m. to noon March 27 in Room 200 of the LCSC Administration Building. It is free.

Registration deadline approachingfor diesel instructors conference

The deadline to register for the Northwest Diesel Instructors Conference at Lewis-Clark State College is March 14.

The conference will run April 24 and April 25. Presenters at the conference include Cummins Northwest, Western States, a dealer of Caterpillar equipment, Bendix Brake Company, Kenworth Sales and the University of Idaho Agricultural Department.

Financial planner from Lewiston named to state insurance panel

David L. Crawford, a certified financial planner with CA Financial Services in Lewiston, has been named to the continuing education advisory committee of the Idaho Department of Insurance.

Crawford is part of an 11-member committee and will serve a three-year term. Crawford sells life insurance and retirement plans to individuals and small- to medium-sized businesses.
