A dozen-plus-one of Lewis-Clark State College professor emeritus Sean Cassidy’s photographs will be on display from Saturday through Oct. 2 at Blue Lantern Coffee House in Lewiston.
An opening reception for the show, “Baker’s Dozen,” is from 5-6:30 p.m. Friday at Blue Lantern, 326 Main St.
Cassidy explained in a news release that he recently returned from a round-the- world trip where he saw beauty everywhere he traveled, but he “was struck by the thought that our region has an incomparable flavor all of its own.”
“The recipe for a good photography show is a complex mix of the familiar and the exceptional,” he said. “That’s what I’ve tried to achieve with this show.”
Cassidy said he’s been taking photographs for 60 years, with his first show more than 40 years ago.

A free screening at 3 p.m. Saturday showcases two short films by former Palouse area resident and screenwriter-director Ysabeaux Ng.
Ng, who recently graduated with a Master in Fine Arts from the American Film Institute Conservatory in Los Angeles, explained in a news release that her father, along with his parents and siblings, immigrated to the Palouse from China about 50 years ago. Her film “A Faded Yellow,” which was shot on location on the Palouse, is a tribute to her family and the community where they settled.
The film “Martha, Martha,” which comes with a warning about conversations regarding sexual assault and abuse, explores the relationship of two sisters when their father is investigated for sexual misconduct.
