NBC has given the green light to a remake of the Munsters by Clarkston native Bryan Fuller.

Fuller, whose most recent work included the brief-lived TV series "Pushing Daisies," is working on a pilot for an hour-long series exploring how the monster family came to be. It will supposedly have a darker, edgier and less campy feel than the black-and-white, 1960's original. Universal TV will be producing the pilot, set to have a summer or special event release.

Fuller graduated from Clarkston High School in 1987. He's been in the news recently because he is working on a series for NBC that would feature cannibal Hannibal Lecter. Whether or not that series will be given life on screen has not yet been decided.
