James Tefft, 90

James R. Tefft, of Culdesac, will be the guest of honor at an open house celebration marking his 90th birthday from noon-2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Lewiston Community Center, 1424 Main St.

He was born March 30, 1934, in Stites to Joseph and Christine Tefft.

After high school, he went to work in Portland for Western Electric, a subsidiary of AT&T. After serving in the U.S. Navy as a radar technician from 1953-57, he returned to work at Western Electric, this time based in Spokane. He worked for the company in various towns around Washington.

In 1965, he went to work for Pacific Northwest Bell in Lewiston, and bought a small farm along Mission Creek in Culdesac, where he has lived since.

He and Janice Cavanaugh were married Sept. 6, 1969, in Lewiston. They have four sons and four grandchildren.

His hobbies include metalworking and woodworking, gardening and restoring his 1925 Studebaker. He is a member of the Pacific Northwest Antique Studebaker Club and the Lewis-Clark Crankers Club.
