UPDATE: A Nez Perce Tribal officer was shot twice by a man in the Lewiston Orchards, according to tribal spokeswoman Kayeloni Scott.
Officer Josh Rigney was shot, allegedly by an unidentified suspect who drove to his home on the 3500 block of 11th Street at about 4:10 p.m. Wednesday and traded gunfire with Rigney.
The suspect, a man, then fled from the scene. Medics arrived and took Rigney to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. A hospital spokeswoman said Wednesday evening that Rigney was being treated in the emergency room.
The suspect was later shot by at least three Lewiston police officers, and the man died from multiple gunshot wounds.
UPDATE: The city of Lewiston reports on its Facebook page that a suspect is deceased following an officer-involved shooting. Three Lewiston Police officers were involved in the incident, according to the post, and without injury.
UPDATE: Two men have been taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, both with multiple gunshot wounds, according to Lewiston Fire Chief Travis Myklebust.
One was shot on the 3500 block of 11th Street in the Lewiston Orchards. His condition is unknown at this time.
The second man was shot on Burrell Avenue near the Nez Perce County Fairgrounds. He suffered gunshot wounds to his chest and other injuries. His condition also is unknown.
At least five different agencies, including Lewiston Police Department, Nez Perce Tribal Police, Idaho State Police, Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office and the FBI are on scene.
Lewiston Police responded to an alleged shooting in the Lewiston Orchards at around 4:10 p.m. today.
Police have blocked a portion of Burrell Avenue from Thain Road to the Nez Perce County Fairgrounds.
