A 33-year-old Lewiston man was killed in a semi-truck accident Thursday morning at the Port Of Wilma Complex on the Snake River.
According to the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office, Derick Ashire was driving a semi-truck for Excel Transport and stopped off the roadway on Wilma Drive at the Port of Wilma.
Another semi-truck driving eastbound struck Ashire while he appeared to be placing a tarp over his semi-truck’s trailer.
The investigation is continuing and an official cause and manner of death will be determined by the Whitman County Coroner.
PORT OF WILMA - A man was killed in an apparent accident near the Port of Wilma this morning, according to the Whitman County Sheriff's Office.
The man's name has not been released, pending a coroner's investigation.
Access to the port is blocked, but State Route 128 remains open.
