OGDEN, Utah — The Idaho men’s basketball team entered its game against Weber State on Thursday flying high, coming off a win that broke a 14-game losing streak for the Vandals.

But the good vibes didn’t last long.

Weber State handed the Vandals their 17th double-digit loss this season, as UI fell 93-59 in a Big Sky Conference game.

Afterward, UI coach Don Verlin questioned his team’s effort and told the Vandals to take a look at Weber State, because “this is what an upper-level team looks like.”

Idaho was led by Cameron Tyson’s 17 points.

“They whooped our tail,” Verlin said, noting that his team was getting beat to loose balls, on the boards and in transition. “Tonight we took a major step backwards.”

Idaho fell behind by 26 at intermission and fell to 5-25 on the year and 2-17 in the Big Sky with the loss, which did little to impact the team’s place in the Big Sky pecking order.

The Vandals are firmly entrenched in last place, trailing the second-to-last team by four games with one regular season contest left.
