Moscow High School athletic director Lance Abendroth announced in an email on Friday that Joshua Davis will be the Bears’ new girls’ soccer coach and Pedram Rezamand will be the MHS boys’ soccer coach, pending approval from the school board.

“Coaches Davis and Rezamand bring a wealth of knowledge and experience and we are excited to welcome them to Moscow High athletics,” Abendroth said.


Whitman County Cougars 6, Shadle Park 5 (8)

SPOKANE — A walkoff sacrifice fly by Joseph Bendel scored Tyler Elbracht in the eighth inning to lift the Whitman County Cougars to victory over Shadle Park in their opening game of the 1A Kickoff Tournament at Spokane’s North Central High School.

Teammate Elliott Lee threw seven strikeouts while walking two in the course of pitching seven innings.

The Cougars improved their season record to 3-2. They will play three more games in round robin pool play for a chance to compete in Sunday’s title game.

Baldeck drops at Lilac

CHENEY — Michael Baldeck of Clarkston Country Club was tied for 15th through Day 2 of the 56th Annual Lilac Invitational at the Fairway Men’s Club golf course.

Baldeck, who had been tied for fourth place thanks to a 67-stroke showing on Day 1, shot 73 on the second day of competition. Clubmate Loren Jeglum improved on a Day 1 score of 73 to shoot 70 on Day 2 and move into a tie for 21st.
