Looking for Layla

Thank you for publishing my letter Monday. When you edited it, which I expected you to do), you eliminated the Rottweiler’s name, which is Layla. Because I have no idea who the owner of this dog is (although she watched the whole attack), I was hoping that, by publishing the dog’s name, someone would recognize it and do the right thing.

Is there any way the name of the dog could be published?

No saints anywhere

Extreme emotions muddle one’s judgment. So does “programming.”

In reading letters to the editor, I am witnessing a great deal of hatred. Do you not understand that it means absolutely nothing to the politicians in Washington, D.C., what party you are or what you stand for? There is no such thing as a Democrat or a Republican in Washington, D.C.

There are only greedy power-hungry egotists.

I’m sure there are a few good ones, but a few is not good enough for me and shouldn’t be for any of us hard-working taxpayers.

Did you know that the following presidents are/ were womanizing scum: Warren Harding, Dwight D. Eisenhower, George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush — all Republicans — and John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Bill Clinton — all Democrats.

George Washington and Thomas Jefferson are part of that club, also.

Are you beginning to get the picture?

Ask about citizenship

It is my understanding that the Democrats don’t want a citizenship question in the upcoming census. Why? It’s the Democrats who are crying foul about election interference. They are stoking unnecessary fear among the immigrant community. It’s unnecessary due to confidentiality surrounding any information collected.

Neither Immigration and Customs Enforcement nor any law enforcement entities have access to any of it.

Only the election committees will use this when determining legal voters. How do I know this? I am a former Census enumerator from the 2000 census.

One of a kind

Through June 6, Blaine Hardy, a southpaw relief pitcher for the Detroit Tigers, is the lone former Lewis-Clark State College Warrior baseball player in the major leagues.

Hardy’s entire six-year career has been with the Tigers. He has been with Detroit since 2014. He’s amassed through this June 21 a 4.40 earned run average in 274 innings, giving up 265 hits, 112 earned runs, 213 strikeouts, 95 walks, 30 holds and one save. He has surrendered 30 home runs while compiling a 14-9 win-loss record.

This writer put a six-day stop on the Tribune from June 7-12 while out of town. Please email me at motownmeyerhoff@yahoo.com if any former Warriors were promoted to the majors during that time.
