Gene E. Kuykendall, 88, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2019, in Lewiston.
Gene was born in Leland to Marie and Denzil Kuykendall Nov. 24, 1930. He graduated from Kendrick High School. Gene then enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean conflict. Upon his discharge from the service he worked at Clearwater Paper for 22 years. He also partnered with his brother Herman to operate Boulder Creek Pack Camp on the Lochsa. Gene and Margaret Busch married Dec. 5, 1969, and blended families. He retired from Hodgson Ford Tractor in 1996.
Gene is survived by his wife, Margaret at their home; daughters Kathy (Roger) Collins, Kristy (Darrell) Hutchins, Pam (Kevin) Kempster, eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; brothers Herman and Gerald (Carol) Kuykendall; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by both parents, his daughter Karen Flack and two sisters.
Gene spent several years enjoying cribbage at the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be mailed to the VFW, 1104 Warner Ave., Lewiston.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens in Lewiston.
