ELK RIVER — A 73-year-old Veradale, Wash., pilot was uninjured Wednesday when his private aircraft crashed while landing on the Elk River airstrip.

Clearwater County Sheriff Chris Goetz said Norris Brown was coming in for a landing when the nose gear collapsed and struck the ground. The airplane sustained moderate damage, but Brown was uninjured and there were no passengers aboard, Goetz said.

The Elk River Fire Department and the sheriff’s department responded to the scene.
