Brush fire closes road north of Moscow

MOSCOW — A brush fire burned 5 acres Wednesday afternoon just north of Moscow, according to the Moscow Volunteer Fire Department.

The fire temporarily closed Hawley Road off U.S. Highway 95. The Latah County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page said there were reports of large plumes of smoke traveling over the highway.

Moscow Fire Chief Brian Nickerson said no buildings were damaged in the fire, but two grain trucks were destroyed. There were no injuries.
