A fire Saturday morning in a vacant Lewiston Orchards house caused damage but no injuries, according to the Lewiston Fire Department.

According to a news release from Battalion Chief Dave Chenault, the department responded at 4:31 a.m. Saturday to the home in the 3300 block of Ninth Street. The first unit on the scene found heavy fire in the attic on the south side of the home.

Crews used three hose lines to knock the fire down in about 10 minutes, then used ventilation fans to clear the structure of smoke, according to the release.

Three engines, two ambulances, a service unit, two chief officers and one fire inspector responded to the fire, for a total of 16 personnel. Two units remained on-scene for about three hours to ensure the fire was extinguished and to assist with the fire investigation.

No cause or damage estimate was included in the release.
