UPDATE: Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson has filed charges of second-degree rape, fourth-degree assault with sexual motivation and indecent liberties against Asotin County Judge Scott D. Gallina.
ASOTIN — Judge Scott D. Gallina was released on a $50,000 bond this morning following his first court appearance on sexual misconduct allegations.
Spokane County Superior Court Judge Michael Price presided over the well-attended hearing conducted at the Courthouse Annex in Asotin. Gallina was represented by Spokane attorney Carl J. Oreskovich; the prosecutor was attorney John Hillman of the state attorney general’s office.
Gallina, who was dressed in street clothes, was brought back from Walla Walla for the proceeding and released from custody after posting 10 percent of the cash-surety bond.
He was ordered to stay in Washington and Idaho, surrender his courthouse keys and have no contact with the alleged victims in the case.
Based on the probable cause affidavit, the state is seeking charges of second-degree rape, indecent liberties and fourth-degree assault with sexual motivation. Formal charges have not been filed yet, Hillman said.
Gallina’s arraignment was set for 9 a.m. on May 6.
