Blast from the Past / 1985: Famed author visits LCSC

Author Edward Abbey visited Lewiston to give the 1985 Wallace Stegner Lecture on the campus of Lewis-Clark State College. According to the story by reporter John McCarthy which accompanied this photo in the March 30, 1985, Tribune, Abbey took shots in his talk at a wide variety of ideas and famous people. He ended his lecture by saying, “If there is anyone here I’ve failed to insult, I apologize,” according to McCarthy’s story. Abbey died four years after his visit to Idaho.
