The Clarkston couple will be guests of honor at an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the Lewiston Elks No. 896. The occasion is a celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Gary Wutzke and Judi Lohrey were married Jan. 25, 1969, in Clearwater. The couple met at the University of Idaho in 1967.
For more than 16 years, he worked as a building contractor in Pullman and then for 18 years in the Washington State University Facilities Operations Department until his retirement.
She had a 27-year career in clerical and administrative management at WSU and retired in 2004.
Since 2007, the couple have co-owned and operated ... and BOOKS, too! first in Lewiston and in Clarkston since 2010.
Judi has been a member of the Alice Whitman Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Lewiston since 2008, and has served as past registrar and regent. She is past president of the Lewis-Clark State College Alumni Board and holds the office of loyal knight at the Lewiston Elks, where she has been a member since 2011. She is a member of the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association and of the Hells Canyon Chapter of the Association for Traditional Hooking Artists.
The couple are members of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and the Clearwater Chapter of Northwest Gold Prospectors Association in Lenore, where Gary serves as treasurer.
The couple have two sons, Bill (Wendi) and Tim (Lori), and two grandchildren. The couple’s families will be hosts for the open house.
