Legion

A two-run rally in the sixth inning brought the Lewis-Clark Twins level with the Kennewick Bandits, sending the game to extra innings when neither plated a run in the seventh. But the Bandits notched a leadoff triple in the top half of the inning and brought the runner in to score with a sacrifice fly to grab a 5-4 win over the Twins at Harris Field in the Dwight Church American Legion baseball tournament.

Two errors in the top of the fifth inning did the Twins in, allowing the Bandits to jump out to a 3-1 lead.

The Twins continue tournament play today against the Missoula Mavericks at 2:30 p.m.

L-C's earlier game against the Asotin County Blues was cancelled.

Orofino - In a game that was reported late on Wednesday, Orofino's Branson Ballantyne was one pitch away from a walk back to the dugout ... in the first inning.

But then, the Orofino pitcher walked two and went 3-1 to the next batter before he settled his nerves and got the final out of the opening inning with the teams still knotted at zero.

And from there, he settled in and tossed seven innings of three-run, five-hit ball, setting the Merchants up for walkoff heroics in the seventh.

Walker Reggear stepped to the plate with one out and and broke a 3-3 gridlock by lifting a game-ending shot over the left field wall which cleared the stadium.

"It was his first hit of the game and boy was it a big one," Orofino coach Jeff Wilson said.
