Mildred Scott of Lewiston was born Feb. 5, 1921, to Alvin and Elsie (Volpp) Fritz on a homestead in Circle, Mont., the eldest of 15 children. She passed away Nov. 5, 2012.
She attended school through the eighth grade in a one-room school and graduated from Circle High School in 1940. In 1943, she moved to Medical Lake, Wash., and worked as a secretary at Lakeland Village.
Mildred married James H. Scott in 1945 in Reubens, and they reared four children. They lived in Reubens for six years and then moved to Lewiston. She was secretary, bookkeeper and clerk of the board of trustees at Tammany Elementary School for 29 years before retiring.
Her husband died in 2000 after 55 years of marriage.
In addition to her children she is survived by eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren with one on the way and one deceased.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church for about 60 years and the Tammany Pollyanna Club of Lewiston for about 50 years.
A memorial service is at 1 p.m. Friday at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lewiston.
