Early Monday morning, Oct. 7, 2013, Herman M. Feider peacefully passed in his sleep at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston after an extended illness. He was 88.

He was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his daughters, Eileen Gehring Feider; as well as his eight older brothers.

Herman was born in Pomeroy Aug. 19, 1925, to his parents, Anthony and Elizabeth (Pierre) Feider. He graduated from high school and went into the U.S. Army during the Korean War, serving in Germany.

He was a farmer in Pomeroy before he moved his young family to Lewiston in the early 1960s, where he went to work at Potlatch as a veneer grader. He belonged to St. James Catholic Church and he spent his spare time gardening and bowling in a local league.

Herman is survived by his wife, Harriet M. (Gehring) Feider; daughters Gloria Feider Polzin (Jerry) and Virginia Robinson (Jim); two grandchildren, Krys Robinson Malone (Aaron) and JT Robinson; and three great-grandchildren, Jackson Malone and twins Ariya and Olivia Malone.

Herman's service is scheduled for Thursday, with the viewing at 9 a.m., rosary at 9:30 a.m. and the service at 10 a.m., all at St. James Catholic Church, Lewiston. The interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Pomeroy.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice in Herman Feider's name.
