Justin R. Dempsey of Grangeville passed away June 22, 2013, just three short weeks after his high school graduation. Justin was born Feb. 4, 1995, in Enumclaw, Wash. The family moved to Grangeville when he was 5. Justin took to the mountains, forests and rivers of Idaho like a duck to water. No critter was safe from this avid hunter, and the great outdoors was his favorite place to be, whether he was hunting, fishing, riding his dirt bike or fixing the next in his long line of vehicles.
Justin will be desperately missed by his family and by a giant army of friends who all loved his easy-going nature, his good-humored attitude and his hilarious repartee. We entrust his dear soul to the divine mercy of Jesus, and we know that we'll all meet up again in a better place. Until then, watch over us, Justin!
Justin was preceded in death by his birth mother, Joy Whitmarsh; his nephew, Skyler; his grandmother, Harvina Dempsey; and his grandmother, Wanda Silva.
He is survived by his parents, Ray and Shelly Dempsey; his grandparents, Ron and Glenda Frei; his sister, Jessica Sperring; nephews Hunter and Ethan; niece Victoria; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Justin's funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Sts. Peter and Paul Parish Center. Burial will follow at Mount Idaho Cemetery. A rosary will be prayed in the church the night before at 7 p.m. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, for a viewing and casket signing at Blackmer Funeral Home, Grangeville. Memorials may be sent either to Summit Academy in Cottonwood or to Sts. Peter and Paul School in Grangeville.
