Nez Perce County firefighters extinguish the final embers from a car fire on the Lewiston Hill on Wednesday afternoon. A vehicle overheated and started on fire as it was headed up the hill on U.S. Highway 95 at milepost 315 around 2:30 p.m. No one was injured, but the vehicle was a total loss. Nez Perce County Fire District and Idaho State Police responded. Fire District Chief Ron Hall said three engines responded to the fire and were able to douse the vehicle as well as a grass fire that started nearby. Hall said about a quarter-acre of grass was burned.
