LAPWAI — Three people were injured Tuesday in a two-car crash a mile north of Lapwai. Christopher K. Rogers, 38, of Grangeville, was driving north on U.S. Highway 95 and tried to pass two vehicles at once at 11:18 a.m., according to an Idaho State Police news release.

A van going the same direction and in front of Rogers was turning left onto Red Duck Lane and Rogers hit the van, which was driven by David J. Gallegos, 56, of Orofino. Rogers, his passenger, George T. Airy, 85, of Grangeville, and Gallegos were taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.

Gallegos’ passenger, Adam J. Searle, 21, of Orofino, was uninjured in the crash. All the occupants wore seat belts. Rogers was cited for inattentive driving, the news release said. Traffic was diverted to Grouse Lane while the scene was cleared.
