The daughter of farmworkers and herself an immigrant, Hernandez helps immigrants through naturalization, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program and family petitions in her role at the foundation, according to a UI news release.

The 17th annual awareness week is organized by UI's Office of Equity and Diversity and College Assistance Migrant Program.
