Potlatch permit program starts today

Timber company launches new pay-to-play plan in Idaho

Posted: Sunday, April 1, 2007 12:00 am | Updated: 2:19 pm, Tue Apr 12, 2011.

Potlatch Corp. officials say initial sales of recreation permits have been brisk.

Starting today people are required to have permits to hike, camp, hunt or ride four-wheelers on the 660,000 acres of Potlatch timberlands in Idaho. The company sold more than 300 permits as of Friday and expects to sell more as turkey and spring black bear hunting seasons open later this month. A spokesman said those purchasing the permits have reported the system seems to be working well.
