Controversy over lead ammo and fishing tackle resurfaces

Environmental groups appeal to EPA to save birds from poisoning

A coalition of environmental groups once again has set its sights on the danger lead bullets pose to the environment.

But this time instead of seeking an outright ban, the groups are asking the Environmental Protection Agency to protect birds and other wildlife by regulating lead ammunition. More than 100 groups signed on to a petition the coalition submitted to the EPA Tuesday.
