Teams from Webster and McSorley came out on top among the nine Lewiston elementary schools that competed at a fifth- and sixth-grade Knowledge Bowl Feb. 29 at Lewiston.
In fifth-grade competition, the first place winner was the Webster team, made up of Andra Mattoon, Megan Freeman, Dave Cannon and Simon Tucker.
Other winning fifth-grade teams were: second place (tie), Centennial Mark Rice, Tyler Bradley, Steven Jensen and Tiffany Ringold, and Orchards Mark Steiner, Paul Foster, Matt Broemeling and Nick George; third place, Camelot Nicole Naylor, Charlie McCarthy, Shane Remer and Andrew Canning; and fourth place, McSorley Doug Self, Robert Krisher, Matt Minick and Caitlin Rusche.
Winners of the fifth-grade Spirit of Knowledge Bowl award were: Whitman Jimmy Reed, Terry Douglas and Becca Koeing; McGhee Amber Allen, Amanda Wilson, Jake Rogers and Kali Larsen.
In sixth-grade competition, the first place winner was the McSorley team, made up of Kristal Larsen, Nikki Fritts, Josh Harris and Bryce Ingram.
Other winning sixth-grade teams were: second place, St. Stanislaus Garrett Frei, William Perry, Charles Peterson and Mitch Colburn; third place, Webster John Feeney, Erica Colpitts, Nick Mendenhall and Liang Wang; and fourth place, Camelot Matt McMahon, Jonathan Hill, Eric Everett and David Hendrikson.
Winners of the sixth-grade Spirit of Knowledge Bowl award were: Whitman Bob Bybee, Samantha Smitham and Tara Nash; Camelot Ashley Schwartz, Kim Thayer, Brianne Linderman and Jeff Arnzen.
The next competition will be March 21.
