NEZPERCE - Magistrate Judge Stephen Calhoun today dismissed a felony voluntary manslaughter charge against Robert S. Wall, a Nez Perce Tribal Police officer charged in connection with the Nov. 12, 2011, shooting death of Jeffrey Flinn.

Flinn, 46, died following a 50-mile car chase that ended in gunfire on U.S. Highway 95 near Ferdinand.

The Nez Perce Tribe had called the charge against Wall “unjustifiable,” and said it was “puzzling” Lewis County Prosecutor Zachary A. Pall chose to pursue the case when the U.S. Attorney’s Office earlier declined to prosecute.

Wall has been on paid administrative leave since the shooting.
