NEW INFORMATION: James S. Sanford III, 27, and Donovan V. Huth, 28, both of Lapwai, were killed in a one-vehicle crash on Garden Gulch Road on Thursday night, according to a Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office news release. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Thomas S. Alfrey, 27, also of Lapwai, was transported to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.

All three were not wearing seat belts and were ejected from the 1979 Dodge pickup, which was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed and rolled after the driver failed to negotiate a turn, according to the release.

ORIGINAL STORY: CULDESAC — Two men died and another was seriously injured tonight after what appeared to be a one-vehicle rollover crash on Garden Gulch Road near here.

An older style pickup truck appeared to have rolled numerous times sometime before 8 p.m. on the road about a quarter mile west of Cottonwood Creek Road, according to the Lewiston Fire Department, ejecting three occupants. It was unknown if any of the men were wearing seat belts.

Two men were pronounced dead at the scene and the other was rushed immediately to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, according to the fire department. Emergency crews did not release the age and name of the man who was hospitalized, but said he was in critical condition while en route to the hospital.
